Bio

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone had a nice extended summer break. I will be teaching your child language arts this year and I look forward to working with you to ensure your child receives an outstanding education this year. This year will be my 16th teaching and it's clear to say it will be unlike any year before. As you know, we will be starting the year out online for the first quarter and it may be even longer. Regardless of the obstacles, if we work together, we can accomplish outstanding things this school year.

On a personal note, I am the father of two wonderful children. My daughter Lorin recently graduated with her masters in counseling from the University of South Alabama and is currently working with teenagers and young adults. My son Brody will be entering his second year at Troy University and is also a member of the Trojan marching band. It's easy to see why I'm so proud of both of them. As for me, I have my undergrad and masters from the University of South Alabama and recently completed my administrative certification from the University of West Alabama. I'm proud to say I graduated with a 4.0 GPA in grad school and for my administrative certification.

In my spare time, I enjoy following LSU sports, playing golf and tennis. I was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana and I am an avid LSU fan. If you didn't know, LSU is the current national champion in football. GEAUX TIGERS! I mention that in case some Alabama fans were not aware of it. (LOL) If your child is a fan of Alabama, they are probably going to struggle greatly in my classroom. Just kidding! Of course, if you talk about Louisiana you have to mention the world class food, such as crawfish, jambalaya, boudin, dirty rice and gumbo just to name a few! It explains why I'm not skinny!

Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked for seven years as a sportswriter for the Mobile Register and later as an child abuse investigator for the State of Alabama Department of Human Resources for two years. Those experiences allowed me to work with children in a different setting and has been tremendously beneficial working with my students in the classroom.  I feel those experiences allowed me to gain a better understanding of why students may act one way or another and respond in a more appropriate manner that will hopefully help them through their situation.

With all that being said, I'm very excited to teacher your child(ren) this year and please feel free to contact me anytime. This year is going to be unlike any other, but together we can accomplish great things! Have a great day and I look forward to meeting you soon!
